Sensory Awareness

A person's inner and honest feelings are expressed by:

1. The words they say (7%).

2. The tone and infection or HOW they speak (38%).

3. Expression of physical presence (eyes, face, posture, body positions, etc.) (55%).

Music, particular barbershop music, has its foundation in the expression of feelings through song. The effectiveness of that expression is measured by the audience's ability to determine the truth behind the words.

The expression of feelings is typically not a practical form of communication. Classes on the subject are few or none, in any level of school curriculum. It is, therefore, essential that we develop the necessary skill of physical communication if we expect to express truth in a believable form.
