Joining Southern Gateway barbershop chorus is an exciting and rewarding experience. The joy of singing, the exhilaration of performing before live audiences, and the gratification of knowing you have done your best on the contest stage. This is not even to mention the number one benefit of joining a barbershop chorus.... the people!

However, joining Southern Gateway can be a bit daunting if you are new to barbershopping. New members are often surprised at the amount of information that the chorus members are expected to know. It often seems to a new member that there is no way they can ever get caught up on what they are supposed to know.

This is where LearnSGC comes in to help. This area of the Southen Gateway web site is full of information that helps explain some of the tools and techniques we use on the risers each and every week. It is by no means a complete listing of everything that needs to be done on stage, and it certainly can not take the place of the wonderful suggestions we get on a weekly basis from our coaches, but it does have some great information to get you up and running with your new barbershopping hobby.

So look over the lessons, and try some of the exercises. Feel free to bring the lessons into rehearsal and ask questions from any of our very talented directors and coaches.
