Presentation - Things to Remember

1. Begin the performance as soon as you enter the stage area.

2. Make the performance look as it sounds.

3. Present a strong and controlled statement on stage.

4. Don't be frantic.

5. Own the stage, set the mood of the movement and have your face match the mood.

6. Fill in the musical segeways with thought and emotion.

7. Form a triangle with focal points out, up, and sideways.

8. Press towards the audience to talk to them.

9. Remember emotion produces motion.

10. Be a team looking chorus.

11. Remember stage presence is an assurance, the kind of authority that comes with knowledge of what you are doing.... at all times.. from the time you enter to the last man off stage.

12. Be aware of each other.

13. Keep all movements strong and complete.

14. React to each other.

15. Establish who you are, what you are doing on stage, and why you are there...concentrate only on this role.

16. Listen to the words you are saying/singing..talk the song.

17. Movement and facial expression will be natural if you listen and react honestly to the message of the song...never fake it.

18. Find a reason for every move and every expression.

19. Look at someone or something...whether they are there or not.. do not look or stare into space... one gets a spacey expression otherwise.

20. Leave your basic self off-stage..very few performers can be themselves on stage..bring only the performer on stage.

21. Rows three through five must lift their chins higher than one and two when looking at a focal point above the director head...focal point is the same, only the tilt of the chin is different.

22. Always stand on the balls of your feet..never on your heels.

23. Press on the first note on the pitch..forward motion towards the listeners.
